Ilvese retk/Lynx tour 25-29.11
25.–29. novembril toimus ilvese otsinguretk koos kahe loodushuvilise kliendiga – üks Hollandist ja teine Belgiast. Viie õhtu jooksul sukeldusime Lahemaa metsadesse, et leida see salapärane metsaasukas.
From November 25th to 29th, we embarked on a unique lynx tracking adventure with two nature enthusiasts – one from the Netherlands and the other from Belgium. Over five evenings, we delved deep into Estonia’s wilderness in search of this elusive forest inhabitant.
The journey was exciting but required patience – it took us a total of 21 hours to find the lynx. On the fourth evening, we had a breakthrough: we discovered fresh scat! This gave us renewed energy. Hour later, we encountered the lynx itself – just 9 meters away from us. It was an unforgettable moment, one we rated 7/10 – an extraordinary experience, though there's always room for even greater adventures.
Although strong winds disrupted our search on two evenings, the remaining three nights offered excellent viewing conditions. Nature was incredibly generous, presenting us with a rich variety of wildlife. We spotted Ural owls, pygmy owls, moose, roe deer, wild boar, raccoon dogs, foxes, mountain hares, European hares, beavers, polecats, pine martens, and of course, one lynx.
Adventures like this remind us of how rich and diverse our nature truly is. The lynx is more than just an animal – tracking and finding it connects us more deeply with the wonders of the natural world.
Until the next adventure! 🐾
