Lynx tour report 12-16.02

Kokku õnnestus reisi jooksul kohata 45 liiki linde.

Kokkuvõttes oli see üks tore ja elamusterohke nädal!

Lynx Tour Summary

On my recent lynx tour, I was joined by Ann, Paul, and Stephen from Rome, who had booked the trip two years in advance. We spent four evenings in nature, searching for birds and mammals.

Luck was on our side right from the first evening when we encountered a lynx mother with her cub – a truly unforgettable moment! Among other mammals, we spotted a mountain hare, red fox, moose, and roe deer. Unfortunately, due to the cold weather, we missed the chance to see a raccoon dog. We had a nice view of capercaillie.

Since we had already seen the lynx early in the trip, we decided to take an additional journey to Saaremaa to observe Steller’s eiders. Although it was a long day, it was absolutely worth it, and we got excellent and close views of the birds.

On the final evening, we added Eurasian pygmy owl and long-eared owl to our birding list. In total, we recorded 45 bird species during the trip.

Overall, it was a fantastic and memorable week
